Honey Gummies

What makes a gummy a honey gummy

Almost nothing sold as a gummy is sweetened with honey. The standard build is glucose or high-fructose corn syrup, set with gelatin, coloured with dye, and flavoured artificially — honey appears on the label, if at all, somewhere below the dye.

A honey gummy inverts that. USDA Organic honey is the first ingredient and does the work of both sweetener and carrier. Ours are set without gelatin, coloured by the fruit that's actually in them, and flavoured with real essences and whole-food extracts.

Why it's worth the trouble

Honey isn't sugar with better branding, but it isn't a health food either — it's still sugar, and we'd rather say so than oversell it. What it does give you:

  • No sugar crash. Honey's fructose-glucose balance and trace compounds make for a gentler curve than straight corn syrup, which is why people report no slump and no upset stomach.
  • It carries botanicals properly. Honey has been the traditional vehicle for herbs and mushroom extracts for centuries, and it masks their bitterness without artificial flavouring.
  • No gelatin. So no pork or beef derivatives.
  • It tastes like a real ingredient — maple syrup, brown sugar, seasonal flowers.

Honey gummies vs honey gummy bears

Worth separating, because the search term covers both. Honey-flavoured gummy bears are candy: corn syrup, gelatin, honey flavouring. Honey gummies in our sense are a supplement format — honey as the base, with functional mushrooms and botanicals extracted into it. Same word, different product.

Where to start

All five of our gummies are honey-based. Browse mushroom gummies, or if you want honey without the gummy, the pourable honey line is the same idea in a jar.

Frequently asked questions

Are there gummies made with honey instead of corn syrup?

Yes. Honey Drops use 100% organic honey as the first ingredient and contain no high-fructose corn syrup or glucose syrup.

Are honey gummies healthier than regular gummies?

Honey is still a sugar, so we would not call them a health food. Compared with a corn-syrup gummy they avoid high-fructose corn syrup, artificial sweeteners, dyes and gelatin, and they carry functional ingredients rather than being candy alone.

Do honey gummies contain gelatin?

Ours do not. That means no pork or beef derivatives, though they are not vegan because honey is the primary ingredient.

Can you make honey gummies at home?

You can, and plenty of recipes exist. Honey sets poorly on its own and does not hold shelf-stable without a setting agent, which is why most homemade versions need refrigeration and are best eaten within a week.
