Reishi Gummies

Red reishi (Ganoderma lucidum) in a honey gummy, with chamomile, passionflower and skullcap. 4:1 cold-water extracted, huckleberry flavoured, no melatonin.

What reishi is

Ganoderma lucidum — the lacquered, fan-shaped mushroom sometimes called the "mushroom of immortality" in Chinese medicine, where it's been used for roughly two thousand years. It's the calming end of the functional mushroom range: where lion's mane is for daytime focus, reishi is for winding down.

Reishi is bitter. Genuinely, notably bitter — which is a large part of why a honey base makes sense here, and why huckleberry does the rest.

No melatonin, and why that's deliberate

Most sleep gummies are melatonin gummies. Melatonin works, but it's a hormone, it can leave you groggy, and it's easy to end up taking far more than the amount that's actually useful.

Midnight Reishi takes the other route — three traditional calming herbs alongside the reishi:

  • Chamomile, for easing tension
  • Passionflower, for quieting a busy mind
  • Skullcap, which works alongside both

The aim is helping the body settle into its own rhythm rather than signalling it chemically. In practice that means it's less abrupt than melatonin and better suited to nightly use.

How to take it

One to two drops, thirty to sixty minutes before bed, as part of a wind-down. Like all adaptogens it's cumulative — a fortnight of consistent use tells you more than one night will.

Frequently asked questions

Do reishi gummies contain melatonin?

No. Midnight Reishi uses 4:1 red reishi extract with chamomile, passionflower and skullcap, and contains no melatonin.

When should I take reishi for sleep?

Thirty to sixty minutes before bed, as part of a wind-down routine.

Will reishi make me groggy in the morning?

Reishi is not a sedative and does not produce the morning grogginess some people get from melatonin. It supports the body settling rather than inducing sleep directly.

Can I take reishi every night?

Yes. Adaptogens are cumulative and are intended for consistent daily use.

What does reishi taste like?

Reishi on its own is distinctly bitter. In Midnight Reishi the organic honey base and huckleberry carry it, so what you taste is sweet and berry-forward.
